dieFirma is an artist-driven enterprise that builds on traditions of fine art, design and craft to create an integrated exhibition space and retail program. dieFirma originates from the desire to create a deeper engagement between maker and viewer. Our robust programming includes immersive installations, retail opportunities, performances, gatherings, panel discussions, and a variety of maker workshops.
We honor authenticity, beauty and the handmade as we explore the many ways art touches our everyday lives.
About the Space
32A Cooper Square is rich in history and detail. Built in the early 1930s, it originally housed Hartz Mountain Pets, a company known for its singing canaries. Since then it has had many lives, primarily as various retail operations. It is adjacent to the iconic Village Voice building and shares a plaza with Grace Church School and Muji. Thanks to recent revamping of Cooper Union and the Standard East hotels, it is situated prominently in a revived Bowery neighborhood.
