For the 2024 edition of Art on Paper, dieFirma is pleased to present a selection of drawings from Bill Miller and Nadia Gould.

These drawings showcase alternate practices for both artists, a place to work quickly and freely, a fluid and flexible way to explore mark-making, texture and color.

Nadia Gould’s ink drawings, pulled from her expansive archive, include both abstract and figurative works. Portraits of individuals and groups feature her sharp perceptions of interpersonal dynamics. Her continued exploration of pattern and mark-making, a recurrent throughline from her earlier abstract drawings, animate these images and hint at complex relationships simmering below the surface. A selection Gould’s numerous abstract drawings from the 1980’s, are a quieter grouping, creating a meditative moment outside the crush of the crowd.
